What is Maundy Thursday?
As you travel throughout your community you may have noticed some of the churches holding a "Maundy Thursday" service. What exactly is Maundy Thursday - I'm glad you asked. Maundy Thursday, on the liturgical calendar, is the Thursday before Easter and commemorates the Last Supper of Christ.
During this time three events are remembered: the washing of the disciples feet, the Last Supper, and the betrayal of Christ by Judas. Churches from many denominations and religious orders celebrate this day differently. If you have never been to a Maundy Thursday service why not go to one today. It might bring the Easter celebration into a more relevant light.
