Smart Snacking
Snacks throughout the day can be a great energy booster and help with weight loss. The key is making sure those snacks are healthy, so here are some points to remember (from the American Dietetic Association):
- Think of snacks as mini-meals that contribute nutrient-rich foods
- Snack only when you're hungry
- Keep portion control in mind
- Plan snacks ahead of time
To help with your snacking here's a quick energy snack receipe:
Ingredients:
- 1 1/2 c. almonds, raw or toasted
- 1 1/2 c. cashews, raw or toasted, roughly chopped
- 1/3 c. dried cranberries
- 1/3 c. dried apricots, roughly chopped
- 1/3 c. raisins
Directions
Mix all ingredients together and divide into 1/3 cup portions. Substitute any nuts (i.e., walnusts, pecans or macademia nuts - use 3/4 c. because they are higher in fat) or dried fruits desired. Enjoy!!

The Barna Group - Most Americans Consider Easter a Religious Holiday, But Fewer Correctly Identify its Meaning
Easter is just around the corner and every year I struggle with the thought that my kids may not know exactly what Easter is about and why it's so important to believers in Christ. So one day I just asked them and they surprised me by giving the best answer ever - the resurrection and Jesus and the gift of salvation!! WOW!
I stumbled upon some research from the Barna Group that confirmed some of my worries that many don't know the meaning behind Easter. Click on the link below and read what they found.

Happy St. Patrick's Day
Having Irish ancestry, St. Patrick's Day is more than just an excuse to wear green (although I do wear emearld green alot). It's a chance to look at one of Christianity's more famous saints. Here's some of the interesting facts of St. Patrick's life:
- Was born of a wealthy Christian family in Britain in the 4th century A.D.
- Was kidnapped at the age of 16 and sold into salvery.
- After 6 years in slavery he escaped and returned home.
- Once entering the church he became a bishop and returned to Ireland as a missionary.
- He ministered throughout Ireland and started a revival that lasted nearly 400 years.
There is so much to learn from the life of Saint Patrick and his mission to share the love of Christ to the "Emerald Isle." To learn more click here.

5 Ways You Could Be Ruining Your Résumé Without Realizing It
Signs are emerging that the job market is picking up, but landing a new position can still be a challenge. The last thing you want to do is sabotage your employment search, and, since your résumé is typically the first impression that hiring managers have of you, it's also the first place where you can potentially ruin your chances.
